First short story

Thought I’d post some short stories every week or so, keep the blog interesting whilst I wait for more news.

The beauty of a heartbeat.

A instant, a moment, a breath. A heart, this muscle, this red beast that forces the crimson liquid to rush around a mechanism of cells and chemistry. This single moment in which so much energy, so much power is supplied to a wondrous synchronisation of organic material. A heartbeat, also a word to describe a moment, the a single flap of a butterfly’s wings as it descends upon a pebble in a pool, a ripple across a still lake that reflected the solar rays drifting in-between the clouds, a single droplet bounding, mixing, and bouncing back out of the body in which it fell, before it is assimilated into the mass of liquid in which it joined.

A heartbeat, it fluttered and skipped as the mind above connected with another, their heartbeats fell into sync as their lips brushed against one another, a perfect harmonious connection of two souls, two heartbeats. The gliding leaves fell around them, a bird chirped above under the red of the sunset, its wings flapping to the beat of the hearts below.

Out there, a million miles away, atoms crashed and smashed in the space between that beating, powering a star, an incredible sphere of power, of alluring light. Down between atoms, in the space between particles, in another dimension, a race, a civilisation flourished under the sound of the heartbeat, unbeknownst to the beauty of the beating above.

Lup dup. Lup dup.

He smiled to himself, all that was happening, all from the muscle within his chest.

Hope you enjoyed! Thanks for reading!
